Annual Flood

Every year most of the property goes underwater.  It used to be part of a cypress slough, until somebody cut down all the cypress. They're growing back now.

My gardening isn't affected.  I'm used to the flooding, so I have all the plants in lowlying areas in pots that are elevated on concrete blocks.  The South Garden is on the fill-mound along with the house.

I lost some plants due to waterlogging in the pots.  The last roll of landscaping cloth didn't work right, I think it got clogged with mud. So the soil in the newer pots tends to get all mucky when it rains a lot.  That was a big roll I bought, and now I can't use it.  Normally I use the landscaping cloth to hold the soil back and keep it from leaking out of the drainage holes.

I'm harvesting a lot of good food...okra, molokhia, sweet potato, Malabar spinach, etc.  And today I mixed more potting soil as I recycled older pots.

Right now I'm nodding off, not enough sleep and too much work, I guess.
